Welcome to the Department of Radiology at Columbia University Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan and Westchester. We are proud to offer the highest quality clinical care in medical imaging, collaborative research opportunities for our patients and physicians, and radiology educational experiences for medical students, residents, and fellows--all at one of the top 10 hospitals and medical schools in the country.

The Department of Radiology currently provides clinical and research programs with subspecialty expertise at six locations, including NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP), Children’s Hospital of New York (CHONY), the Allen Pavilion, NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital, and at ColumbiaDoctors Midtown and Tarrytown. The full spectrum of diagnostic and therapeutic radiology is offered throughout the enterprise, including the complete array of diagnostic radiology (CT, US, MRI, plain films), interventional radiology (body, vascular, and neuro), and nuclear medicine (PET, PET/CT, CT/SPECT). All services utilize the most advanced technology available to provide cutting-edge radiologic service to our patients and referring physicians.

The department participates in a broad range of NIH-funded research initiatives and translational research collaborations with every other department in the medical center, placing us at the forefront of advanced medical imaging. Many of these projects are performed in dedicated state-of-the-art Department of Radiology research facilities, which include the David A. Gardner PET Research Center, a world class nuclear medicine facility that provides high quality positron emission tomography (PET) and PET/CT clinical and research facilities; the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Center of Columbia University, which boasts several high field research magnets. The Department also has a strong collaborative relationship with Columbia University's Department of Biomedical Engineering.

The department provides radiology education to an average of 45 residents and fellows each year. We have an extensive ACGME graduate training program in diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine/radiology, pediatric radiology, neuroradiology, interventional radiology and vascular-interventional radiology. We also offer training fellowships in thoracic, abdominal, musculo-skeletal, body MRI, and neuro-interventional radiology. The array of nationally-recognized faculty and the breadth of exams, research opportunities, and advanced imaging technology, combined with the clinical services of one of the top hospitals in the United States, makes the radiology educational experience at Columbia University among the most competitive in the country.
