Stuart Bentley-Hibbert Named Vice Chair of Regional Imaging Network

Stuart Bentley-Hibbert, MD, PhD, has been named vice chair of regional imaging network for the Department of Radiology at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S). He will oversee the department’s growing network of outpatient imaging sites in Westchester County, New York. His appointment was effective September 1, 2025.

Bentley-Hibbert is a board-certified radiologist specializing in abdominal imaging. He served as chief of the Divisions of Abdominal Imaging and Cardiothoracic Imaging at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) for 12 years before moving into his new role. He also served as interim chief of the Division of Emergency Radiology from 2024 to 2025.

"I am delighted that Dr. Bentley-Hibbert has taken on this new role," said Ajay Gupta, MD, MS, James Picker Professor of Radiology and chair of the Department of Radiology at VP&S. "His leadership and vision will be central as we focus on our major expansion into Westchester County. This growth will allow us to bring world-class imaging care directly to the communities where people live and work, ensuring patients throughout the region have access to the very best that Columbia Radiology and NewYork-Presbyterian have to offer.”

In his new role, Bentley-Hibbert is well-positioned to increase access to diagnostic exams and unify patient experience across five outpatient radiology sites that span Westchester County. During his tenure as division chief, he added more than 20 abdominal and cardiothoracic radiologists to the radiology faculty, expanding diagnostic services across CUIMC and NewYork-Presbyterian (NYP). He also significantly expanded the division’s research portfolio. From 2021 to 2024, Bentley-Hibbert took on an additional role as vice chair of patient access and experience for the department and led initiatives to increase online scheduling and introduce coordinators to assist with urgent scheduling needs.

Most recently, Bentley-Hibbert oversaw the opening of the department’s newest outpatient imaging location at NewYork-Presbyterian The One, which offers a full spectrum of diagnostic and interventional radiology services, including the first photon-counting CT scanner in Westchester County. He will also support and oversee diagnostic radiology at NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester, ColumbiaDoctors/NewYork-Presbyterian Imaging in Scarsdale, ColumbiaDoctors Tarrytown, and NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital.

"Our goal is to ensure that state-of-the-art imaging, along with the vast expertise of our radiologists, is easy to access and available to physicians and their patients across not only Westchester County but also Fairfield County, Rockland County, and northen Westchester," said Bentley-Hibbert. "Ultimately, we want to make sure that our patients are receiving the best care possible."

Bentley-Hibbert, an associate professor of radiology at CUIMC, joined the Department of Radiology in 2009. He was previously an assistant professor of radiology at New York Medical College, where he also earned his PhD in experimental pathology. Bentley-Hibbert earned his MBA at Columbia University in 2019.
