Nahill Matari Receives RSNA Rising Star Award

Nahill Matari, MD, MS, was named a recipient of the 2026 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Rising Star Award, which recognizes early-career radiologists for outstanding contributions to radiology education, leadership, and teaching.

Matari is an assistant professor of radiology and associate program director of Columbia's Diagnostic Radiology Residency. A passionate medical educator, he has led multiple innovative educational initiatives for the department, including the recent development and deployment of an AI and informatics curriculum, which includes a lecture series and training exercises to educate radiology residents in AI/Informatics modality development and deployment. Matari previously served as associate program director for Columbia’s Breast Imaging Fellowship for which he redesigned the fellowship curriculum.

Matari has won multiple teaching awards throughout his career and currently serves as a deputy editor for Academic Radiology.

As a recipient of the RSNA Rising Star Award, Matari will contribute to RSNA’s educational activities by participating in the planning and presentation of sessions within the Douglas W. MacEwan Rising Star Track at the 2027 RSNA Annual Meeting. He will also develop microlearning courses for the RSNA Education Central website.
