Kiyon Naser-Tavakolian Joins Columbia Radiology

Welcome to Kiyon Naser-Tavakolian, MD, who joined our interventional radiology division as an assistant professor of radiology.

Dr. Tavakolian has expertise in minimally invasive procedures and treats a wide range of medical conditions including cancer, venous disease, men’s and women’s health. His particular interests are in liver cancers, deep venous disease, treatment of fibroids, prostate artery embolization, varicocele treatment, and pelvic arterial and venous disorders. He also performs a wide range of procedures for cancer and non-cancer related pain including joint injections, nerve blocks, kyphoplasty, ablations, and women’s health procedures such as hysterosalpingograms and fallopian tube recanalizations.

Dr. Tavakolian completed his medical school education at the University of Vermont College of Medicine where he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Subsequently, he completed his internal medicine internship and diagnostic radiology residency at Stony Brook University Hospital, where he served as academic chief resident. He then completed his interventional radiology fellowship at Columbia University Irving Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian.

Dr. Tavakolian is a passionate educator of residents, fellows, and medical students and has been awarded numerous teaching awards during his residency. Additionally, he has authored multiple manuscripts and abstracts in lung biopsy technology, neurodegenerative disorders, and case reports within interventional radiology. He is a peer reviewer for the American Journal of Roentgenology and a member of the American College of Radiology (ACR), the Society of Interventional Radiology, and the American Medical Association.

He will be practicing at Milstein Hospital. We are excited to have him rejoin the Columbia Radiology family.
