Columbia Radiology Opens Advanced Interventional Radiology Suite at NewYork-Presbyterian The One

The Department of Radiology has opened a new, state-of-the-art interventional radiology suite at NewYork-Presbyterian The One, further expanding access to advanced, minimally invasive care for patients across Westchester.

The new suite is one of three in the world, featuring the latest generation of artificial intelligence (AI) assisted technology designed to support a wide range of vascular and nonvascular procedures with exceptional precision and flexibility. Patients will experience faster procedures and reduced exposure to radiation.

“This technology provides our Westchester interventional radiology patients with access to the most advanced minimally invasive treatment available today,” said Tate Kirk, MD, assistant professor of radiology and director of interventional radiology for The One. “By combining leading-edge imaging capabilities with the expertise of our physicians, we are able to deliver highly personalized care while continuing to expand the range and complexity of procedures we can perform.”

Interventional radiologists use advanced imaging to diagnose and treat a broad spectrum of conditions—from cancer to osteoarthritis—through tiny incisions. These image-guided procedures often result in less pain, fewer complications, and faster recovery times for patients. Many interventional radiology treatments at Columbia are offered in an office-based setting, eliminating the need for a hospital stay.

Designed with both patients and providers in mind, the new suite offers a comfortable, ergonomic environment and features cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), an advanced technology that provides detailed images while exposing patients to significantly less radiation. The imaging capabilities support highly precise navigation during procedures, helping physicians visualize anatomy in real time and confidently treat even the most challenging cases.

Interventional radiologists use tiny incisions and advanced imaging guidance to diagnose and treat conditions that would otherwise require open surgery.

The new suite reflects Columbia Radiology’s ongoing commitment to innovation and to delivering world-class care to patients across New York City and Westchester. As demand for minimally invasive treatments continues to grow, the new facility will help ensure patients have access to the latest technologies that improve precision, efficiency, and overall patient experience.
